Queen Mary 2 & QE2 Meet in Sydney Harbour
History will be made when the massive 151,400-ton Queen Mary 2 sails into Sydney Harbour on Tuesday 20th February 2007. It will set the record as the biggest ship ever to visit Australia.
Sydneysiders will be able to see this unique event from vantage points around the harbour as the majestic liner is due to arrive in Sydney at approximately 6:30am. Sydney sees Queen Mary 2 halfway through her maiden world voyage.
As a double feature the giant Queen Mary 2 will be joined in Sydney Harbour by her famous ‘little sister’ Queen Elizabeth 2 at approximately 7:15pm.
This spectacle will be the first time two Cunard Queens have been seen together in Sydney since the second world war when the original Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth visited the city as troop carriers.
To celebrate the event a spectacular fireworks display will take place over the Harbour at 8:40pm. Queen Mary 2 will leave Sydney at 11:00pm on February 20.
