The beauty of the Jenolan Caves, situated in the Blue Mountains, is its maze of ancient limestone tunnels, subterranean rivers, and caverns richly draped with exotic mineral deposits.
The Jenolan Caves were name the local Aborigines first Binnomea or Dark Places. Since the 1830s when discovered by European settlers over 40kms of multi-level passageways have now been explored and mapped.
The caves were created over millions of years through a complex relationship between water, rock, atmosphere and the lifeforms that inhabit the environment.
Tours of 1 to 2 hours are conducted each day (except Christmas Day) starting at 10:00am with the last tour starting at 5:00pm. The tours are conducted over three kilometers of formed paths which have been developed to provide options to suit all ages and levels of fitness.
